Nail Art Roundup: Winter 2016

It was a busy December - a good month, but a crazy one! Nail art production was at an all time low, but I did manage to scrape together a few cute looks during the holiday season.
Up first, two looks that I particularly loved from December.

Left: When I got a holographic silver polish in my Ciate Mini Mani Month advent calendar, "Holographic Pearls" I knew I had to try it out in a wintry look. Paired with a hand-painted cable knit print, I loved how this one turned out.
Right: Inspired by the amazing @WondrouslyPolished - I attempted a matte finish - and I surprised myself with how much I loved these. I got so many questions of where I got my nail stickers when I wore these - I will definitely be attempting more matte looks in 2017. Nail Art Resolution #1!
Next up - snowy nails!
It was a snowy December here in Canada. It's sadly all melted now, but for a few days there it was a wintry wonderland outside - and I just had to match on my nails!
A bright look and a darker take below:

Left: Another attempt to use a Ciate #MiniManiMonth2016 polish, a beautiful glittery bluey/purple called "Risky Business" (see below). I even pulled out some What's Up Nails nail vinyls - a purchase from a boxing day sale in 2015 that I rarely use...and I know why! I don't know about all vinyls, but I find the intricately cut ones hard to work with. That Ciate polish though - beautiful!
Right: When I first received Revlon's "Rebel Graffiti" in my stocking from my lovely BF, it reminded me immediately of snow on dark skies. Paired with a hand-painted snowflake, the final mani was certainly a darker take on winter, but I ain't hatin'.

Rounding out the year were the holiday manis - loved both of these!

Left: Ah the Christmas Eve/Christmas Day mani - love love LOVE how this one turned out. I've recently rediscovered the talented Robin Moses and this was a take on one of her holiday designs. I love the fluidity of her work - how up close the art looks a little muddled, but far away looks like a masterpiece. Like little Monets on my nails. Plus it gave me a chance to use my Deborah Lippmann "Happy Birthday" glitter to decorate the trees. So festive, but so different!
Right: Another glitter was calling my name when I went to create this mani - two actually. Pure Ice's Respeck - see my Fall Haul post for a close up - is a black base with pink, purple and blue glitter. I definitely wanted to try that, especially with my Barry M "Atlantis" flaky glitter on top - and I'm happy I did. A glitter match made in heaven!
Even more Nail Art Resolutions? More nail art!! I want to challenge myself to do more looks in 2017, discovering more art to imitate, to create my own designs and not be afraid to do something different. Here's to a nail art filled 2017! :)
